A Token of Appreciation
Last Monday, when Sabrina came back from school, she told me that her friend gave a present to their class teacher, Ms Crystal. She told me that she want to give present too and asked me what should the present be. After a few minute of 'brainstorming', she told me she wanted to give some of her toys to her teacher. I said "no, teachers don't play toys". And then I suggested, " Why not, I do my rose painting and you give it to your teacher". She agreed with that.
Close up for the roses.
So starting from that day, I get on to painting. At first, when she saw the basic painting, she told me " Your painting is not nice, Mama". And I said "It's not finished yet". After that, she went to sleep. The next day, after she came back from school I showed it to her. She said " It's really nice Mama. I can't wait to give it to Ms Crystal and Ms Dolly". Ms Dolly is the assistant teacher of her class.
Before the addition of the wording.
Personally, I like this pattern very much....simple but nice. ( Boleh x angkat bakul, bawa sendiri....hahaha)
A gift for Ms. Dolly.

WIP 2
Last weekend's painting project. Painting on porcelain surface...white teapot. For this project, I used enamel acrylic color specially made for glass or porcelain or tile surface, flow medium and extender. Now, I'm crazy for Priscilla Hauser's roses.
It is very difficult to paint the leaves because the paint itself easily to dry off. As amateur like me, I need more time to blend the color of the leaves. So, you can see it in the close up picture, the leaves are not well blended. I have yet to paint the teapot cover....waiting for the right time. :) :) :)
The reference book
I want to share my collection of rose themed items. Magazine or book stand....it helps a lot while I'm painting. I bought it for only AED79 last Saturday at BHS. For sure, in UK the price is very much cheaper compared to AD price.
And also single rose hanger...... AED35. All of this collections are limited edition from Maison. The next entry, if I have enough time..... I will share my other roses themed items with you.

WIP
Last 2 weeks project...small roses. I have no mood plus no idea plus lazy also ( hahaha..so many plus ) to work with the lettering...blankkkkkkk. For this roses painting, I used flat brush no 4. If you can see, the color of the leaves are darker than previous leaves. I used Grass Green ( Folkart Plaid ) for the basecoat and double load with Moss Green ( Jo Sonja) + Teal Green ( Jo Sonja ).
I'm not satisfied with the roses...something wrong somewhere.... I'm lost. :( :( :(

Key Box
At last, the key box project done. It takes about 2 weeks to finish it plus minus with other 'disturbances'. For this project, I applied Priscilla Hauser's technique of painting roses, leaves and buds. I used ' Priscilla Hauser's Book of Decorative Painting' as a reference. In the previous entry, I gave my review of the book.
Front of the box
At the side of the box.
Four roses.
The buds.

Priscilla Hauser's Book of Decorative Painting
As I promised in the last entry, today, I would like to present my review of Priscilla Hauser's Book of Decorative Painting. I bought this book at Kinokuniya, Dubai Mall for AED107 . Inside the book, you can find topics such as
1) surface preparations and finishes
Learn how to properly prepare surfaces such as MDF board, wood, metal, tin or glasses. And how to protect and finish the projects when it's done. This also included 6 techniques for adding beautiful finishes.
2)Skills
As with other books, this book also teaches the skills needed in decorative painting.
3) How to paint leaves
Step by step demonstration in variation of leaves from simple to complex leaves such as basic leaves, turned leaves, blade leaves and the scribble leaves.
4) How to paint flowers
Step by step demostration in variation of flowers such as rose, daisy, violet, poppy, morning glories, pansies, Iris, tulip and magnolia. And also include how to paint ribbon, basket, egg, nest n grass.
5) Patterns
Several patterns for the reader to try are also provided inside the book.
6) Tips
Priscilla also give some tips to complement the topics in each chapter.

For me, the book is worth it because it has so many good tips and techniques that helped me improve my skills. It helped tremendously to reduce mistakes that I used to make earlier.

Lettering
Entry for today, I would like to do a tutorial in doing lettering on the project's surface. For quick and easy solution, usually I used WordArt. What u have to do, You open Microsoft Word, and click button 'Insert' at the top of the page. Then search for WordArt and then click that button.
When u click WordArt button, It will show as above and you have to choose the word style that you like.
Right after you click that, it will show as above. And you can type the phrase that you want. For example..welcome. U can choose your favourite font and adjust the size of the font. In this case, I choose "Monotype Corsiva'.
And then, click ok button.
Time to copy and paste. What you have to do, print out that word and copy the word using tracing paper.
Transfer the word into the surface of the project using carbon/graphite paper.
After tracing on your design with graphite, start fill the word with paint. Usually for small and thin letter like this , I'm using liner brush. It is easy for me to fill in the word.
Here, to make the word stand out a bit more, I will outline all the letters by painting with other colors such as brown. Or you can outline the letters with Micron Black Permanent Pen.

GA From Ira Pink Vintage
First time, I'm involving myself in joining Giveaway by Ira Pink Vintage. In this GA, I have to do some assignment...hehehehe... teringat zmn U, berhempas pulas buat assignment. X sangka dah jadi mak orang pun kena buat asssignment juga. hahaha. Xper, xper....nak hadiah Ira punya pasal, ku sanggup redah segalanya. :) :)
Ok...lets start our sessi bersoal jawab. Sib baik soklan subjektif kalu objektif memang limited nak menjawabnya.
a) mcmna dpt tau blog Pink Vintage yg sungguh menawan ni (perasan sikit nooo)
Ira dtg ke blog bertanyakan tentang buku Ros Singleton yg saya beli thru Ros Singleton's website. Nak bukti? Ni kat bawah ni Ira tinggalkan jejak dia.
b) apa pendapat anda tentang blog Pink Vintage ni? pjg @ pendek doesn't matter k.
So far, Pink Vintage bnyk memberi tips2 n informasi yg berguna tentang FA. Kiranya Ira ni x lokek ngan ilmu yg dia ada, so dia share ngan pengunjung2 blog dia. Sbb tu, saya selalu bertandang ke blog dia...hehehe. FA dia juga ler membuatkan sy kembali bersemangat tuk melukis setelah senyap seribu bahasa kerana ke'bz'an yg melanda. Walaupun bz, sanggup curi2 masa nak melukis punya pasal. Itu ler penangan dr Pn Ira kita.
c) kekerapan anda melawat blog Pink Vintage
Selalu jenguk blog Ira, kdg2 seminggu tu ada ler 3 0r 4 times keluar masuk blog Ira. Ira ni sentiasa update her blog with her new projects sbb tu rajin singgah ke blog dia. Tapi selalunya jadi silent reader sbb kdg2 tu x sempat nak write something at her wall. Baru jer nak comment, budak kecik kat sebelah dah bising. Bila dah busy...lupa trus nak comment. :(
d) andaikata anda yg menang..apa yg akan anda buat???
Kalau saya menang, syukur Alhamdullilah.

Practise make perfect
Recently, I practised painting Priscillia Hauser's rose. At first, it was very difficult to get a perfect rose until I almost gave up. I went through the techniques again. So,the next day, when I found some free time from the usual chores, I continued practising. At last, I finally nailed it. Well, not 100% perfect, but I am satisfied with it. Above picture is the book I referred to. So, in the next entry, I will review the book and write about it here. Insya Allah. :)
I tried playing with colors and took notes each time I was finished with one rose.... every detail I jotted down so easy for me to refer to it later.
A few months back, I painted this rose and also hydrangea.

Frame
Close up
For me, it is very difficult to paint small size roses. Make me 'angin satu badan'...heheh. Roses on the frame....painted during my confinement...when nobody at home. Sabrina, my sister in law n my husband went to Dubai...left me alone at home. Baby Sara still at the hospital. So nothing to do, I painted these small roses on the white frame.
Happy viewing. :)

Canvas
Hi,
Salam from me..Sara... I am a big girl now...3 months old n feeling very good right now.
Back to the topic, it's has been quite a while since I painted anything. One word to described it all...busy....handling 2 children left me no time for anything else let alone arts & crafts. One day, I told my husband that I missed painting a lot and I asked him to take care of the little one and gave me some private time to paint. So, yesterday one whole evening I was working on the canvass starting from 8pm until 230am. Although they were quite a few 'disturbances' I managed to finish the painting.
Happy viewing.
